Eligibility
The team of Canada is always represented by the winning team of the provincial level of the past year.
The team’s captain must not reside in Quebec. If so, he or she must subscribe for the provincial level of the competition.
The presented project must not have been realised in snow before.
The team's captain must be a professional sculptor and reside in the country that he or she represents. Each team must register the names of each of its three (3) members. The name of a substitute is also required if a team member desists.
Snow block
Each team will be given a cylindrical block of compacted snow measuring approximately 3.7 meters (12 feet) of diameter by 3.7 meters (12 feet) of height.
Conception of sculptures
Maximum use of the block's volume and mass is required. However the finished work must not exceed the initial volume. The sculpture must be moulded in a rounded fashion as opposed to a raised fashion (in relief). Snow is the only material allowed. Use of colouring or water is prohibited.
No structure may be used to support the finished sculpture.
Equipments
The committee will provide each team with two shovels, a ladder, a light and two scaffolding. All sculptors must bring their own hand sculpting tools as they are not provided.
The use of any electrical, flame making, hydraulic or mechanical device (ex. chainsaw) is prohibited. The use of any other type of instruments must be approved by the committee before its use.
Lodging and meals
The committee will provide lodging for each team (3 people): one room per team from February 2015. During the competition, all meals will be provided by the committee.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation will be provided by the organization. Each team must have a maximum of three luggages and a tool box.
A shuttle will be available between your place of residence and the main competition site for the duration of the event. However, please note that all transportation services will be available only on February 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th. Outside those dates, transportation will be to the charge of the participants.
Jury Award
The jury award, a cash prize of $1,000 CAD and a public mention will be awarded on Sunday, February 8th 2015 at the closing ceremony.
