NAME – JANAK JHNKAR NARZARY
Born in 1948 in Assam, India; studied sculpture, BFA and MFA in Visva Bharati and MS University respectively, art history in Boston University, Ph.D. from Visva Bharati.
Exhibitions: Three personal shows and participated in many important exhibitions in national and international levels including National Exhibition of Lalit Kala Academy, Sculpture Exhibition in National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi and Triennial - India International exhibition, New Delhi.
Awards: Triennial-India International award, New Delhi, 2005; National award, Lalit Kala Acadimy, New delhi, 2001, AIFACS, New Delhi,1973-74; Academy of fine Arts award,Kolkata,1971 and others.
Sculpture Symposium/workshop: Participated in International Sculpture Symposium held in Vizac, India,1999; Icheon City, South Korea, 2001, Vernagcco (Udine), Italy;2002; Bhopal, India,2002; Silpakorn University, Bangkok, Thailand,2003, Kokrajhar, India, 2004, Lapidea, Mayen city, Germany, 2006; Chiang Mai, Thailand,2006; Gwalior, India, 2006; Tultepec and Sun Luis City, Mexico, 2007
Seminar Conference : participated in various seminars and conferences held in various places of India and abroad, such as, Dhaka, Bangla Desh; Bangkok, Thailand ; Chicago,USA; Delhi, Ellora, Varanasi, Kolkata of India.
Pablication ; Published more then 30 research papers on art in major Indian journals.
Presently Professor and Head of the Art History Department, Visva Bharati University, General Council Member of Lalit Kala Akademy, New Delhi; member of Association of International Monumental Sculpture Event, (AIESM) Italy.
