AIESM, International Association for Monumental Sculpture Events, promotes the sculpture and the sculptors at international level.

September 2006 – Thailand

The Silpakorn University in Bangkok and AIESM, International Association for Monumental Sculpture Events, with the support of various Thai partners, organized from 10th to 30th of September 2006 the First International Symposium of Monumental Sculptures in the city of Chiang Mai, Thailand.
The symposium has been organized on the occasion of the celebrations for the 60° anniversary of the Thai king Bumiphol’s crowning of for his 80 years of age, thematic that inspired all the sculptures realized during the event.
The works realized during the symposium in painted steel have been permanently installed in the fantastic park ROYAL FLORA RATCHAPRHUEK in Chiang Mai.
32 different countries of the world have contributed to the realization of this immense park, 20.000 square meters of extension, creating special tents and areas with flora imported by their Countries, as contribution to the celebrations of the double anniversary of the Thai king.
The park offers the rare occasion to admire around 25.000 varieties of flowers and plants from the world, and to walk in an atmosphere of dream between magnificent gardens and splendid architectures, among which the sculptural works realized during this symposium have been installed.
The park inaugurated on the 3rd of November 2006 and millions of persons from all over the world already visited it among which a lot of royal families and official delegations in homage to the Thai king.
The AIESM artists that have been invited to the event in representation of different Countries are the following: Ante Marinovic - Croazia, Alber and Luna de Matteis, United States, Bettino Francini - Italy, Oleg Slepov - Russia, Miguel Hernandez Urban - Mexico, Ted Carrasco - Bolivia, Roger Lapalme - Canada, Janak Jhankar Narzary - India, Shim Jung-Soo - Korea.
The Thai artists participating to the event are: Saravuth Duangjumpa, Kamol Tassananchalee, Khemrat Gongsuk, Nonthivathn Chandhanaphalin, Vichai Sithiratn, Chamruang Vichienket, Inson Wongsam, Vichoke Mukdamanee, Pirapong Duangkaew.
