When it Rains (2023) by Yannick Robert is a granite abstraction in the general shape of a falling drop of water. The sculpture is installed on a granite base that is distinguished by differing color and shape. The fine slender movement of the sculpture points towards the sky and indicates the source where natural forces meet, oppose one another, and react. The meeting of opposing forces gives birth to rain which has the power to sculpt our reliefs and enrich our oceans. Lack and abundance mark the perpetual opposition of a fragile balance. This opposition is symbolized in the work by the curves of dunes and the criss-crossing of water runoff that forms over a general unevenness.
