WORKS THE ARTIST CURRICULUM NEWS
 Born in Puntarenas, Costa Rica, in 1958.

 Studied art at the Universidad Autónoma de Centro América.

 Taught art in high schools in Costa Rica.

 Owned and operated a successful ceramics school.

 Upon moving to Canada in 1989, devoted more attention to creating artwork, especially sculpture.

 Studied marble-carving techniques of the masters, in Tuscany, Italy.

 Became Director of the Art Department at the Beach Art Centre, Toronto, Canada. Planned, coordinated and taught programs in sculpture, ceramics, painting, drawing and animation.

 Served as Vice-President of the Latin American Artists' Network in Toronto.

 Established and operated El Refugio de los Artistas (The Artists Refuge) in Alajuela, Costa Rica, from 2004 to 2008, serving as Artistic Director and Resident Instructor of programs in stone and ceramic sculpture; oil, acrylic and watercolor painting; and drawing.

 Promoted Costa Rican art and culture nationally and internationally, by organizing art symposiums and exhibitions, including the country’s First International Stone Sculpture Symposium, in 2006.

 In 2007, organized a successful touring exhibition, Expresión Humana al Desnudo, to promote acceptance and appreciation of art focused on the nude human form.

 From 2008 to 2009, owned and operated Visions Gallery in Escazú, Costa Rica, to promote the work of established and emerging Costa Rican artists, including the “Grupo de 20”. Served as founding president of the group.

 Organized and promoted EmbrujArte, a successful art show and sale by more than three hundred national and international artists, in Escazú, Costa Rica in 2008.

 My paintings and sculptures can be found in galleries and private collections in the United States, Canada, Europe, Argentina and Costa Rica. In 2001, my largest stone and metal sculpture, "Between Heaven and Earth", was installed in a historical park in Chile.

 Passion and energy are important elements of everything I do, as I continue to create my own art, explore new techniques and styles, teach students and work to help other artists.

 Citizen of Canada and Costa Rica, currently residing in Toronto, Canada
