January 2009 - India

The Uttarayan Art Foundation of Baroda, India and AIESM organized the 1. International Stone Sculpture Symposium that took place from December 28th 2008 to January 25 th 2009 at the Uttarayan Art Foundation on the river Mohi, next to the city of Baroda. The sculptures, with free theme, have been realized in a variety of local stones, with dimensions among the 2 and the 3 meters of height. All the sculptures realized during the symposium remained permanently exhibited at the park of the Uttarayan Art Foundation.
Among over 100 received projects, the jury composed by a local delegation, chose for their realization during the symposium the projects of the following 12 international artists:
Colin Figue - England, Ante Marinovic - Croazia, Ted Carrasco - Bolivia, Saravudth Duanjumpa - Thailand, Omar Toussoun - Egypt, Ayla Turan Tan- Turkey, Lin Chaofei - China, Rapheal Beil - Germany, Renate Verbrugge - New Zealand, Parastoo Ahoan - Iran, Bettino Francini - Italy, Maria Grazia Colini – Italy, Simona Bocchi – Italy.
The followings 5 artists have been, instead selected to represent India,:
Mahendra Pandya, Robin David, Rajendra Tiku, Rajsekharan Nair, Janak Jhankar Narzary (coordinator of the symposium).
