RETROSPECTIVE
 

November 2007 - Switzerland

Association Art Entlebuch in Flühli, Switzerland (www.artentlebuch.ch) and AIESM Presidency organized the 2. International monumental sculpture symposium in stainless steel and glass that took place from the 26th of October to the 9th of November 2007 in Flühli, Switzerland. Flühli is located in the heart of Switzerland and is part of the first Biosphere of the country. In the 18th and 19th centuries Flühli was one Europe main centers for manufacture of glass. For this symposium the glass, as material and medium, has been incorporated symbolically in the projects of stainless steel sculptures as Homage to Flühli glass.
The organizing committee received in total N.: 53 proposals, from 50 artists, in representation of 25 different Countries.
The projects of the following 5 artists have been selected for their realization during the symposium:
1. Ekkehard Alternburger – United Kingdom – Project: “Give and Take”
2. Shim Jung Soo – Korea – Project: “Wind and….”
3. Om Khattri – Nepal – Project: “Manthan”
4. Giovanni Talarico – Italy – Project: “Senza titolo”
5. Reyna Castro Aloso: Mexico – Project: “Synphs”
The sculptures realized during the symposium have been permanently installed in public places of different towns in the region.
Giovanni Talarico's sculpture has been installed in Doppleschwand.
The work of Reyna Castro Alonso is now placed in Schuepfheim, while that of Shim Jung Soo is in Entlebuch.
The work of Ekkehard Altenburger is installed in Werthenstein and that of Om Khattri is in Sorenberg.
The symposium has been largely publicized.
