ARTWORK FOR LIBRARY - IRELAND

The County Council of an irish city invites submissions from artists for a public art commission related to the Central Library and Cultural Centre. Applicants are invited to respond to the geographical and or historical environment and or the cultural aspiration of the Centre. The commissioners are seeking a permanent artwork and are open to the work being incorporated into the fabric of the building.
The work will be sited in a public building to be accessed by a broad crosssection of user groups. The artwork should not impede the flow of movement through the building. Public safety and security of the artwork should be taken into account with the choice of materials and the design. The artwork should not have any costly ongoing maintenancerequirements and should be accessible for the purposes of maintenance. The artworks should have no electrical parts.
The commission is open to artists, sculptors, lighting designers, craft designers, etc. Proposals are invited from artists working either on their own or in collaboration with others.
The Committee has identified the sites internally in the building and externally in the Park for location of artwork.
A maximum of 3 artists will be invited to submit a detailed proposal for the second stage and may be requested to present their proposals to the selection panel. A fee of Euro1,500 will be paid to artists to develop their proposals and the timeline for this will be 11 weeks.
The total budget for the commission is Euro 54,000. This amount includes every cost
