INTERNATIONAL SCULPTURE BIENNAL - JAPAN

In the autumn of 2013, a City in Japan will hold the 25th Biennal International Open Sculpture Competition. 40 selected models will be displayed in an exhibition, from the 16th December 2012 to the 20th January 2013. 18 selected winners will be invited to the secondary screening and they will make full size sculptures based on the models and plan submitted in the Preliminary Screening. Works should be installed by Monday, 22 July to Sunday, 25 August 2013 at the exhibition site. Organizer will subsidize the creation of the sculpture with 1,000,000 yen.
It is recommended that participants consider constructing their works at factories in the City.
The organization in this case provides additional subsidy of 14,400 yen per day while staying in Ube and technical assistance.
After the exhibition the top 2 pieces will be placed in the streets or parks of City. The cost of removal and transportation inside Japan will be paid by the organizer for not winning sculptures. The competition is open to all individuals and groups for all types of sculptures. Each applicant can only submit one work. Entries must be original works, which have not been exhibited to the public elsewhere.
Total dimensions of the actual work must not exceed 900cm (The total of height +width +depth, including pedestal). Maximum weight of the actual work is 10-ton. The materials and the structure must be suitable for an outdoor environment, be able to withstand wind pressure and earthquakes and be safe to touch.
