INTERNATIONAL SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM – LUXEMBOURG

The sculpture is to be created on the “Place de Paris” of Luxembourg-city, outside and in public. Only professional sculptors can participate: 3 national, 3 international. No given theme for the sculpture. The sculptures are to be created by a block of oak-wood has dimensions around 180 cm height and a diameter around 40-60 cm. Integration of other elements/material is possible as far as this is not more that 10% of the whole artpiece and as far as the artist brings it along with him/her. Cutting, assembling, finishing/textures with your own tools. In case of need the artist can ask for electric or oil chainsaw renting. No technical assistance available. this year travel expenses can be carried by the organizer up to 65% of their costs: car-travel refund is calculated individually considering distance between your residence and Luxembourg. For train or airplane travels, 65% of economy class tickets from your home to Luxembourg-city (the shortest distance) are refunded. Refunding is only possible by providing your travel invoices/vouchers/tickets to the organizers. Each artist gets 2.000 Euros for his/her work and sculpture, paid the last day of the symposium on August 4th . Food and lodging is paid by the organizer. Artists can bring one member of their family if they want but this person will have to pay a supplement for a double-room and will pay all his/her food. At the end of the symposium, the sculpture remains property of the sculptor who is likely to sell or donate it. No percentage on the sell is taken by the organizer. In case of unsold, the sculptor takes back his/her sculpture or organizes him/herself to have the sculpture moved after the exhibition in the station to another place (eventual arrangements). The organizer does not pay for that transportation.
Arrival of sculptors : Saturday July 28th. At 19h00: welcome and dinner at a place to be still defined.
Departure of sculptors : Sunday August 5th.
