ART AND NATURE TRAIL – NETHERLANDS

A dutch foundation organizes the seventh edition of Art and Nature trails in the woods near a village.
Extraterrestrial – theme of edition 2012
Artists let themselves be inspired by the theme of ExtraTerrestrial in the widest sense of the word.
The theme is based on an antenna system sited in the region. This system of thousands of antennas is scanning the sky searching for new cosmic developments. It registers millions of celestial bodies in the universe and defines the place of the earth in this complexity.
The challenge for the artist is to translate this specific idea into a three-dimensional engineering or structure or interference in the scenery.
It is required that the spatial compositions and structures can stand the local conditions ( public wood, influences of nature ) for at least seven months. These projects are based on the use of natural materials and/or an obvious connection between nature and art.
The location for the works of art is the wood and the heaths nearby the village.
A new trail ( footway ) will be plotted of about 3 kilometres in length.
Artists will be paid Euro 1250,00 ( including all expenses ).
Food and lodging are provided by the organizer.
Materials:
Natural materials from the national forest: trees, trunks, branches, erratic boulders.
Next to these other materials can be applied. For extra materials, in consultation, a limited budget is available. ( should be part of the proposal )
Refunding of travelling expenses ( to a maximum of Euro 500,00 )
Working period 2012 (with reservation):
Arrival artists – Thursday 31st May
Working period – Friday 1st June up to the opening on Wednesday 13th June
Artists leaving – Thursday 14th June
Catalogue, website, posters, brochures will be realized, promoted and distributed.
