MONUMENT TO FREEDOM – GERMANY

This Monument to Freedom and Unity is to be a national monument which transcends over the city through its location, stature and significance. All people throughout the GDR who stood up to the dictatorship are to be honoured by this monument. The Monument should be a piece of art which prompts reflection and analysis. The work of art should portray its message through contemporary forms and aesthetic means.
175,000. Euro VAT included, will be available for the competition.
120,000. Euro of this money will be shared out equally to all projects accepted for the competition for expenses. 55,000. Eurp will be used as prize money. This prize money is intended to be awarded as follows: 1. Prize: 20,000. Euro, 2. Prize: 15,000. Euro, 3. Prize: 10,000 Euro ,as well as 2 prizes of recognition of 5,000 Eurp each.
The jury can commission a prize winner to realise the project. For artistic accomplishments in further planning procedures, a minimum fee of 150,000 Euro will be granted. Building costs and fees in further developments must remain in balanced relation to each other.
