PRIZE FOR A PUBLIC WORK – MEXICO

A Cultural institution in Mexico starts its 2011 calendar with the creation of a mural painting and sculpture/ installation acquisition prize. The call for participants will be open internationally. Both
pieces will become part of a newest Guadalajara based project.
The call is open to artists of any nationality.
- Each artist can only submit one proposal.
- Participation is anonymous; the use of a pseudonym is required.
- The work must be proactive and emphasize the relationship between art and architecture.
- The work must be new, specially created for the this Award 2012.
- Applications will be accepted only in digital format, via our website.
Space specifications for the mural:
The space for the mural painting is located in the lobby, which is an obligated transit area
for users and visitors of the building. The lobby will be a natural rendez-vouz spot for it
unites the pedestrian access with the buildingʼs back garden. The mural will also be visible
from the outer part of the building. The proposal cannot be larger than 9.00 x 2.80m.
Space specifications for the sculpture / installation:
The space for sculpture / installation is very flexible, we expect to be surprised by the
proposals, remember you can use the entire surface. Measures to sculpture or installation
are free, always taking care not to interfere with the building.
The competition has an acquisition prize of 5,000 USD for the winner in the category of
sculpture / installation and 3,000 USD for the winner of the mural.
