ARTIST COMMISSION – UNITED KINGDOM

Ingrandisci la fotoDeadline: 30th of September 2011
Artists are invited to make use of the temporary hoardings, scaffolding structure or other aspects of a building at a University in United Kingdom to make a work visible from the street that will transform or animate the external face of the building in some way while construction work takes place. The artwork should not impede construction work in any way, and proposals should bear in mind that practicalities and logistics will need to be negotiated with contractors. The work will be on display while construction is taking place, and could be for up to one year, although the duration of the installation will be contingent on the contractors’ schedule.
The timescale of this project is relatively tight. It is hoped that the project will start immediately and work will be installed from early Spring 2012. Shortlisted artists from the received expression of interest will be invited to make a site visit in Autumn 2011 before submitting a second, more detailed proposal.
Artist’s Fee: £7,000
Fabrication & material costs: A budget of up to £4000 is set aside for production, travel and accommodation costs. Incidental costs should be met by the artist or in some circumstances may be negotiated with the organizer. Installation costs will be covered by the organization.
Maintenance: The organization will assume responsibility for the care and maintenance of work while on site.
Other obligations: Artists will be encouraged to participate in other activities at Kettle’s Yard as well as attend meetings, workshops and project discussions with other artists and students.
