INTERNATIONAL SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM – CZECH REPUBLIC

This International sculpture symposium in Czech Republic takes place every year on July. The material to be carved is a local type of sandstone. The stone blocks of two to three cubic meters size are to be chosen by participants in some of the quarries in the surroundings. Any special desire, concerning the shape of the block, should be announced to the organisers in advance. The personal working instruments, the pneumatic and electric power facilities, cranes, jacks, trucks, car for personal transport to the quarry, the auxiliary manpower are provided during the period of the Symposium. The workplace is situated nearby the town, in a small abandoned quarry, surrounded by woods. Symposium participants are accommodated at a small hotel in town .The Symposium pays participants' accommodation including breakfast and activities organized by the Symposium. Transport from stay-place to the town and food (except breakfast) is paid by participants themselves from their awarded grant. Soirées, discussions, cultural excursions and other events take place during the Symposium.
Finished works will remain ownership of the town of Horice and they will become part of the sculpture park.
The grant, settled at twenty thousand crowns (approximately 850 Euro), is awarded each participant of the Symposium. For detailed information on how to participate ( required documentation and contact address),
