FIRST SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM - TRANSYLVANIA

A Municipality in Romania is organizing the First International Transylvania Wood Sculptor’s Symposium that will be held from 17th – 25 th September 2011. Professional Sculptors, Woodcarvers and wood enthusiasts including up-and coming young artists and emerging students in Fine Arts. There is no restriction on age or country of origin. A professional Jury will closely examine the candidatures in order to select 7 artists.
The Organizers do not set further specific requirements regarding the subject or chosen theme. The work of art should be made mainly of hard oak wood. The oak hard wood is put at the disposal of selected artists free of charge. The wood is cut at 4 m length and it has a 40-60 cm diameter. If the artists require a further quantity of wood, she/he needs to communicate to the organizer the exact dimensions not later than the end of June 2011. Glue system for assembling further wood will be provided free of charge. Other and extra materials may be used if there are brought by the selected sculptors. The artists will be supplied with the following items free of charge:
-Electricity-supply.
-Wood barracks with working table, benches
-Oil and petrol for chainsaw
-Lifting facilities
Any additional tools will be provided by the selected artists. Full board and lodging will be provided by the organizers. An honorarium of 500 Euros will be paid to each participant.
The Organisers reimbursed the transport cost up to the sum of 300 Euros against the documents. Artists from oversees may get 500 Euros. The selected artists must provide evidence of travel costs. Sculptors travelling by plane are advised to come by Budapest Airport first. A waiting car will be arranged at the airport.
