SCULPTURE AND INSTALLATION SYMPOSIUM BELGIUM

Ingrandisci la fotoDeadline: 31 May 2011
This 7th International Symposium of Integration in a Natural Environment will take place from 22 to 28 August 2011 in a village in Belgium.
This symposium will gather thirty selected artists who will choose between tree trunk carving (10 people) or installation, to work in a forest for seven days. The competition is open to everybody, without distinction of nationality, age or profession. In order to register, you must send a complete file before 31 may 2011.
The project is based on a symbolical, local celebration: The Planting of the May tree, which celebrates the beginning of springtime and takes place each year on the last Sunday of April. The first part of the project consists in the tree trunk carving of the May Planting.
The trunk will be cut up into ten parts (each part will be +/- 2 meters high) and carved by selected artists. The second part of the project is dedicated to Installations. These two disciplines imply that the artists create their work of art on the spot. They cannot bring an existing work from their atelier.
Each selected artist will receive free food and a camping site where they can put their own tents and sleeping bags. Free bathrooms will be available.
Awards:
A panel of judges will award the first prize of 1,250 euros for the Installations category.
The public will award a second prize of 1,250 euros for the trunk-carving category and a
third prize of 1,250 euros for the Installations category.
Each selected artist will provide their own equipment. When handing over their project, they
must mention their need. ( please note than electricity will only be available for the trunk carvers)
