INTERNATIONAL ART SYMPOSIUM - GERMANY

The project proposals for this sympsoium, that will take place in the spa gardens of a town in Germany should show an interpretation of the theme “Underworlds” in its various meanings.
It is about „disguising and revelation“ of space and object, through the pure sensory perception (inner worlds, under- and backsides) as well as in the content of social and human abysses. The installed artworks are meant to give food for thought concerning the miscellaneous cultural use and stimulation of the spa gardens – beyond the period of the exhibition. Any artistic means of expression (sculptures, painting/drawings, installation, etc.), which are suited for a one-year-outdoor-exhibition in the spa gardens, are desired. Projects such as of educational, enlightening, experimental and playful character (like walk-in mazes, kinetic objects etc.) or projects with process character (for example Land Art) are also welcome.
The artists will receive:
- for the creation, installation and dismantling of the artwork (after the completion of the artwork) : 1.000,00 Euro.
- 300,00 Euro for the needed material ( if the material is provided by the artist himself) or free material in situ, more extensive projects can also be submitted and optionally be realized (up to a maximum of 4000 Euro of total cost)
- travel expenses (only from a distance of more than 500 kilometer)
- free lodging (including breakfast and dinner)
- formation of an independent jury (artists, cultural organizations, organizers)
- documentation of the event
- technical support on an agreement basis
- cultural program (vernissage, finissage)
Schedule:
- application deadline: April 30th 2011
- evaluation, reply and invitation till June 1st 2011
- day of arrival of the invited artists: July 17th 2011
- completion and installation of the artworks till July 24th 2011
- day of dismantling of the exhibition: July 23rd 2012
