PUBLIC ART EVENT – NEW ZEALAND

This competition is open to all artists throughout the wider Asia Pacific region.
The competition is preceded by an open call to artists for proposals from which up to four finalists will be selected. These finalists will be invited to construct maquettes of their proposed works which will then be exhibited.
The finalists, upon satisfactory completion and exhibition of maquettes and presenting their proposal at the symposium, will each receive a payment of NZ$2,000.00
One winning work will be selected from the finalists by an external expert judge.
The Judge’s Award recipient will receive NZ$50,000 upon satisfactory installation of sculptural work at a site pre-determined.
A People’s Choice award will be selected through public ballot. The People’s Choice Award recipient will receive an additional NZ$5,000. Should the People’s Choice and the judge’s decision be the same, the People's Choice will be awarded to the second highest polling entry.
Timeframes:
All entries must be received no later than 5pm 11 March 2011.
Finalists will be announced on 18 March 2011.
Finalists’ maquettes exhibited on 15 April 2011.
Award Ceremony for the winning entrants on 6 May 2011.
Sculpture Symposium 2011 held on 9-10 May 2011.
Exhibition of maquettes closes 16 May 2011.
Installation of winning work along riverfront between 8 and 12 August 2011.
