SCULPTURE PROJECT 2010 – NEW ZEALAND
 | Deadline: 3 February 2011 A public administration in New Zealand wishes to commission a permanent, unique and distinctive sculptural work that will be sited at an important street of the town. It will serve to celebrate the city and its people and their history, recognising both Maori and later settlement. It will reconnect the heart of the city to the sea. This commission is one of the most significant art commissions undertaken, to date, by the organization. On the web site, it is possible to find Site Plans and Site Photographs. The following process will be undertaken to select and engage an artist: Stage 1: Expression of Interest (EOI). No proposals are required at this stage. The artist is to meet the cost of submitting an EOI. Stage 2: Three artists will be selected from the EOI’s received, and each paid $5,000 to create Concept Designs/Proposals which include enough detail to estimate production costs. The budget guideline for the commission is NZ$200,000. This budget excludes the $5000 paid to each of the three short listed artists to create concepts. The budget will include artist fees and travel costs, design, selected aspects of site testing, engineering, construction costs, fabrication and any other cost.
