INTERNATIONAL SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM – FRANCE
 | Deadline: 13th of December 2010 This 21 international sculpture symposium is organized by a town in France in the following dates : - Monday, 23 May at 8 a.m to Sunday, 5 June at 6 p.m for the sculptors working STONE. - Saturday, 28 May at 8 a.m to Saturday, 5 June at 6 p.m for the sculptors working WOOD or METAL. THEME : Alchemy The organization will provide each professional artist with : - a block of limewood or any other species cut down last winter (170 cm high x 50 up to 80cm in diameter) • or 6 pieces of limewood 200 cm long x 20 cm wide x 6 cm deep for the making of a sculpture in low relief • or un block of stone (unspecified origin ) : 1 m3 maximum. • or un block of metal (lead - copper – pewter – bronze...) The dimensions of the finished sculpture must be between 1.20m and 1.70m. The organizing Committee of the Festival offers the possibility to make a joint sculpture in accordance with the theme. The sculptors that are interested in this initiative may submit a joint project, which is to be created by a maximum of 3 sculptors from different nationalities. The Organizing Committee will select 15 wooden projects - approximately one half for the round (3D) option and one half for the bas-relief option, as far as possible - 3 stone projects, 1 metal project and one joint project. The work produced will be the property of the artist. He/she will have the option to sell it but the sculpture has to stay on the site until the closure of the festival. The Organizing Committee will then deduct 20% of the selling price. If the sculpture has not been sold, it will have to remain in the town until the end of the 2012 festival and it will be on exhibition in different places. But, if the artist wishes to take back the sculpture at the end of the symposium or before the established deadline, he/she will have to give the Committee the 20% of the selling price. So, every artist ha sto fix the price of his/her piece before the end of the symposium. If the artist has not reclaimed the sculpture within a period of 3 years, the art worklwill become the property of the town. Prizes: Winner of the best artistic work: 1,000 Euro and the sculpture will remain his/her propriety. The prize for the choice of the public will only concern the sculptors working in wood. The winner will receive the sum of 1,250 Euro in exchange for his/her accomplished art work. Refund of the travel expenses: up to 40% for European sculptors and 60% for sculptors from other continents, up to a limit of 800 Euro .The refund will be made through bank tranfer and upon presentation of a receipt of the substained costs.
