INTERNATIONAL SCULPTURE BIENNAL EXHIBITIION– MEXICO
 | Deadline: 30th of September 2010 The objective of this Biennial exhibition is to promote and disseminate the urban monumental sculpture, to give significance to urban areas by locating monumental sculptures in public areas that will enrich the lives of citizens and visitors. The biennial exhibition intends to address the subject of freedom coinciding with the celebration of 100 and 200 years respectively, of the Mexican Independence and Revolution. For this second edition of the Biennial, the work material must be steel as the base for the sculptural projects performance with the possibility of adding other materials as secondary elements of the sculpture. The final maximum volume of the monumental sculpture should be 10 x 10 x 10m. (The most). These dimensions are not a limit of the final sculpture and just represent a maximum volume parameter. The final project should be considered as an URBAN MONUMENTAL SCULPTURE. During the participation First Stage, is not necessary to send the scale model, only the required information mentioned on the rules for participation and photographs of the built model. 15 pieces will be selected between the received projects. The selected artists will be invited to send the model build to 1:25 scale. Selected projects will be exhibited at a Museum during November 2010 and should be sent through a shipping company which will be specified at the time (the cost of shipping will be in charge of the organization). An international panel of judges will evaluate the projects, determinate the winner of the first prize and award up to 4 distinctions. The winner will travel to Mexico and for 4 weeks will supervise the performance and installation of his/her sculpture, which will be placed in an urban area of the city. Housing, support and the air flight ticket will be given by the organization. Materials, equipment and manpower for the realization of the art work will be also provided by the organization. Only the first prize will have a cash prize of $15,000.00 US Dollars. The first prize, distinctions and the 15 selected projects will be documented in the printed catalog of the II Biennial, in a video memory and on the web website.
