MAYAN JADE SCULPTURAL EXPERIENCE – GUATEMALA

A jadeite sculptural experience will take place in Guatemala, from 22nd to 29th July 2018.
Jadeite was sacred because of its importance among the Maya and in ancient times it was used as a currency of exchange.
The artists who want to take part in this experience will spend a week working the jadeite according to ancient customs. The workshop will take place in Santa Catarina Palopó.
12 sculptors will be selected who will collaborate with the project paying each $ 1000.00 Dll. a week that will cover the accommodation in bungalows with large windows overlooking the lake, delicious meals served three times a day and the jade sculpture workshop as well as transport from the airport to Atitlan. Boat excursions on the lake will also be organized to get to know the cities and archaeological sites. The organization will take charge of promoting artists to local media and a final exhibition will be organized.
