INTERNATIONAL SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM - LUXEMBOURG

A town of Luxembourg organizes an International Sculpture Symposium from May 20, 2015 until May 30, 2015. This event is dedicated to the following objectives - to acquaint Luxembourgish spectators with artistic currents of contemporary sculpture - to popularize art and sculpture - to promote the participating artists’ work - to produce unique artworks that will become part of the cultural heritage of the City The number of sculptors attending this meeting is limited to 6. The artists work in an open-air workspace, protected and adequately lit by the organizer. The selected artists carve during 10 days and work with a marble stone block “Moleanos” (maximal dimensions: (100x80x80 cm) (monolithic) that will be funded by the organizer. The assembly of the material will be assumed by the organizer. Each sculptor will have at his disposal the necessary materials and facilities (electricity, compressed air and water) as specified in the agreement with the organizer. The sculptors must use their own tools to achieve their sculptures. The symposium will take place regardless of adverse weather conditions.
Honorary: Each participating sculptor will receive an artist’s fee of 1400 euros (one thousand four hundred euros) at the end of the symposium. The accommodation of the non-resident artists as well as the catering (meals/drinks) of all the participating sculptors will be ensured and assumed by the organizing body from Tuesday evening (May 19th, 2015) to Monday morning (June 1st, 2015). No additional costs can be charged to the organizer.
