INTERNATIONAL SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM – IRAN

An Organization of Iran holds the International Sculpture Symposium. The symposium is supposed to be held from May 10 to June 2, 2014.

Symposium is held in two main and student segments:
Main Segment: The select Council of the symposium will select 12 Iranian and 12 foreign artists to take part in this segment.
Student Segment: The segment has been designed only for the fine art sculpture BA students who are experienced in stone carving. Totally 10 students can compete to each other in this segment.

Raw Materials:
Each artist is given a white travertine stone with 300*150*100 cm.

Construction Terms
Besides the mentioned travertine stone the symposium is committed to hand over a milling machine, a mini milling machine to each artist. Artists can bring their other required tools and devices.

Tools available in the Symposium’s workshop: A drill, a crane for moving in the workshop area.
Each artist is introduced to an assistant. A set of overall, safety shoes, glasses and gloves are given to both artists and assistants.

Both artists and their assistants need to observe the safety tips during working in the symposium’s workshop. Artists and their assistants are responsible for any harm caused by negating the safety mechanisms.
Moreover, safety tools including helmets, gloves, overalls and safety glasses are given to artists and all artists and assistants are covered by the accident insurance.
Symposium’s Gift to Artists:
2300 USD is paid to the selected artists as the participation gift.
A participation license besides the mentioned gift is awarded to all participants.
Awards: For the main segment, three works will be selected by the jury which are introduced in finals and are awarded with the following awards:
An honorary diploma and 3500 USD for the first work
An honorary diploma and 3000 USD for the second work
An honorary diploma and 2500 USD for the third work
