INTERNATIONAL WOOD SYMPOSIUM - ROMANIA

Cosmin Hiristea, AIESM Agent , organizers in collaboration with a Municipality in Romania the Third International Transylvania Wood Sculptor’s Symposium that will take place from 25th May – 1th June 2014.
- Eligibility Professional Sculptors, Woodcarvers and wood enthusiasts including up-and coming young artists and emerging students in Fine Arts. There is no restriction on age or country of origin. A professional Jury will closely examine the candidatures in order to select 5 artists.
The announced theme is DYNAMIC CONTRAST
-Work material The oak wood. The wood is cut in winter time at 4-5 m length and it has a 40-60 cm diameter. If the artists require a further quantity of wood, she/he needs to communicate to the organizer the exact dimensions not later than the end of March 2014. Wood and places of work will be assigned by extraction.
- Work conditions The artists will be supplied with the following items free of charge: Electricity-supply. Wood barracks with working table, benches Oil and petrol for chainsaw Lifting facilities Any additional tools will be provided by the selected artists. Each selected artist must bring the others necessary personal work tools. The use of chainsaw will be limited during the day. The working program is from 9 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 7pm, daily, except on Sundays. The symposium will be held in any kind of weather. Artists must finish their work until Saturday evening, in Sunday 1th of June a closing ceremony will close the event.
- Accommodation details The organizers provide free accommodation in single room fisherman’s cottage around the lake. Full board and lodging will be provided by the organizers. Companions have to pay themselves only meals, the costs of the overnights stays are free.
- Honorarium An honorarium of 500eu/690usd will be paid to each participant. At the end of the symposium each artist will be awarded with a participation certificate endorsed by the major. Organizer will award the best work with the Transylvania Sculpture Trophy.
-Travel expenses The Organizers reimbursed the transport cost up to the sum of 300eu/415usd against the documents. Artists from overseas may get 500eu/690usd.
- Participants Commitment During Symposium, the participating artists will give public lectures about their artwork, their concept of creation and in particular about the piece they are realizing. The selected artists may arrive on the 24th May in the afternoon onwards, to choose their wood logs, to become familiar with their surroundings and to discover the village. The artists are kindly asked obliged to remain in the symposium working area during the symposium working hours and to respect by the symposium calendar.
